On 14th September 2021, Water Eaton Community Larder will celebrate 1 year since opening its doors. Based at Water Eaton Church Centre (Drayton Road, Bletchley, MK2 3RR), the Community Larder is a membership programme, with currently nearly 80 members, where anyone can buy their shopping for as little as £3.50 per week and help reduce perfectly good food going to waste.
The Community Larder, working with SOFEA, Crosslinks and Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council, is a great way of accessing good quality food at a fraction of the cost, with local supermarkets donating their spare food. All items at the Larder would have been sent to landfill despite being delicious and having several months or even years left until their expiration dates. An individual membership provides up to 10 items of non-perishables (pasta, tins etc) and chilled items per week plus free fruit and vegetables.
Water Eaton Community Larder is open on Tuesdays between 2pm-4pm, with free tea and coffee served from 1.30pm.
If you would like to talk through the process of becoming a member, come along and talk to the Community Larder volunteer team about a free trial. You can also get in contact by email: watereatonlarder@gmail.com or via the Water Eaton Community Larder Facebook Group.
