About Us

Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council was created in 2001 and is the ‘local’ or ‘parish’ council for our area.

We have 21 town councillors who are elected every four years. Together they work to represent their community as the first tier of local government.  Each councillor is elected to one of 10 wards, but they represent the whole area and collectively make decisions about the council’s policies, services and spending. The town council is funded by a ‘precept’ or tax which is paid by the electors of the area and is collected with the council tax.  We also charge for some services and seek grant funding when possible. The councillors themselves are unpaid public servants (though they may receive an allowance for their duties). They are supported by a paid staff team. Together the council team works in partnership with the community to promote the well-being of everyone in our area.

The town council is an independent body though we also work with many partner organisations including:

  • Milton Keynes City Council
  • Thames Valley Police, Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue service  and other public services
  • local charities, community organisations and faith groups
  • our neighbouring local councils.

Our councillors meet regularly to make decisions in council or committee meetings and you can find out about the council’s business by looking at the agendas, reports and minutes of meetings. Please find more information on our council meetings webpage. You can also learn about what we are doing through our social media channels, this website and our regular newsletters.  You can also contact us to talk about any local issue.  If we aren’t the correct authority to deal with your query we will point you in the right direction and represent you if appropriate.
